Scotts Valley FD, Scotts Valley, CA - March 11, 2008
We just placed the rescue 42 struts in use in December 2007 and already we are seeing some good use. They have really given the crews more confidence while working around vehicles in precarious positions. Some have even said that without the struts the extrication would have been much longer or difficult.
E2513 responded to a vehicle rollover on a windy section of highway 17. The patient was trapped in a precarious position. Using the struts the crew was able to do a total sidewall removal without compromising the vehicles integrity. The patient was transported quickly to a local trauma hospital.
