Scotts Valley FD, Scotts Valley, CA - December 7, 2007
We just placed the rescue 42 struts in use in December 2007 and already we are seeing some good use. They have really given the crews more confidence while working around vehicles in precarious positions. Some have even said that without the struts the extrication would have been much longer or difficult.
[These pictures are] from 12-07-07, the day after we placed the struts in service. E2511 went on a vehicle rollover on Highway 17. When the crew got there they said that all the vehicle needed was a slight wind to tip over. The crew was successfully able to extricate the patient within a few minutes.
